Hawaii State Contractor License Regulations

The State of Hawaii requires general building and specialty contractors to be licensed. To be licensed by the state you will need proof of workers compensation insurance, contact Hawaiis' Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for further details, (808) 586-9166.  Insurance requirements include bodily injury liability-$100,000 each person, $300,000 each occurence; property damage liability-$50,000 each occurence. Lastly you must also provide address of the business in Hawaii to pass an exam on business, law, and trade. To apply for a license contact Contractors License Board, or call (808) 586-3000. It will cost $50 to file an application and $65 for each part of the exam.  Every contractor is required to pass the OSHA exam.
